A Gigapixel Experience

With TÜBKE MONUMENTAL, the KUNSTKRAFTWERK in Leipzig is presenting a multifaceted and innovative project:
TÜBKE MONUMENTAL is a tribute to the painter Werner Tübke (1929 – 2004), co-founder of the Leipzig School and creator of the largest painting in Central Europe.

His Peasants’ War panorama Early Civil Revolution in Germany measures 14 × 123 meters and is still housed in the Panorama Museum in Bad Frankenhausen.
In Leipzig, digital innovation meets a key work of German art history.
art history. With THE GREAT CIRCLE and TÜBKE TOUCH, the project provides a completely new approach to this gigantic and complex painting.

The latest technologies create new mediation approaches and experiences that re-establish Tübke’s masterpiece in the public eye and preserve it for future generations.
